National Almond Day Giveaway!

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

We all have busy schedules, and this month is no exception. Of course there’s Valentine’s Day, and you may know its American Heart Month, but did you know it’s also National Almond Day on February 16th?

You do now! What’s the connection between Heart Month and almonds? California Almonds make a great on-the-go snack and are cholesterol-free and low in saturated fat. Plus, when compared ounce for ounce, almonds are the tree nut highest in protein, fiber, calcium and Vitamin E. That makes our hearts happy.

To celebrate, our friends at the Almond Board of California are giving away a fun celebration tote loaded with almond goodies: whole natural almonds, almond flour, blanched sliced almonds, almond butter, two perfect portion almond tins, and an Almond Inspiration Cookbook! The Almond Board of California sent us each the almond bundle and trust us, you won’t be disappointed!

Win this giveaway and you’ll have all you need to celebrate and experiment with almonds in the kitchen.

To enter the raffle, just leave a comment below letting us know your favorite way to snack on almonds! And don’t forget to follow California Almonds on Facebook and Twitter @almonds.

I love almonds whether its plain almond butter on the spoon or with some crackers or in a banana smoothie. Raw almonds and tossed with salad! Yumm now in. Hungry! But my favorite was is using diced almonds when I make my baked cauliflower fries. So what I do is semi cook the cauliflower head, then I dip in beated egg. Roll around in finely crushed almond. Bake in the oven! Yumm delicious! I add a little bit of organic ketchup and whala! Great snack or meal with not so many calories! Hope I win!

Almonds are just amazing all by them selves but the way I use them would be almond encrusted chicken as well as long hatch green chili's encrusted. Blend almonds up to get a fine chop dip chili strips in egg dip in almonds til covered bake til you get a nice deep brown and enjoy with a side of fat free ranch. Same with chicken season as usual. Almonds give a nice crunch and the taste is amazing.

2. Almond Flour Pancakes, just almond flour, cinnamon, and egg whites or instead of cinnamon something savory like garlic & herb seasoning to make a wrap of sorts.
3. Chopped raw almonds added to oatmeal
4. Chopped raw almonds added to greek yogurt concoction
5. Almond milk to replace any and all dairy milk
6. Almond butter in yogurt or oatmeal concoction (instead of chopped)
7. Almond butter on apples, celery, banana, etc
8. Hand full of raw almonds as a snack
9. Almond butter melted on a sweet potato w/cinnamon
10. Almond butter on a spoon
