Eat Breakfast!

Many of you are thinking, “Duh! What a no-brainer!” Statistically though, 31 million Americans skip breakfast every day. People who eat breakfast are happier and since they give themselves fuel to start their day, they have more energy throughout the entire day. Try eating some nonfat Greek yogurt and oatmeal topped with fresh blueberries or banana—or sprinkle some of that oatmeal and fruit on top of your favorite high- protein cereal!

Stay Hydrated and Drink More Water.

Even being slightly dehydrated can make you feel tired and fatigued. And most people are slightly dehydrated. Plus, often people confuse hunger with thirst. Drink up!

Pair Fiber and Protein Together at meals and snacks.

Don’t pack too many carbs in your stomach at meals – one reason you may end up eating extra is that they’re digested faster. Fiber and protein are digested more slowly which helps to sustain your energy! Enjoy salad with an abundant amount of veggies and chicken on the side with a piece of fruit or a slice of whole grain bread.

Try Eating Smaller Meals and More Often!

Eating too much, too fast can make you feel bloated at the end of a meal. Eat smaller meals throughout the day to stay energized. Don’t snack on salty snacks though – keep it healthy! For some people having several smaller snacks works well. If this works for you, try having mini meals/snack of an apple and 30 pistachios or 2 crispbreads with 1 level tablespoon of peanut butter.

Take a Break with a Quick Walk Around the Block.

If you sit for long periods of time at work – no wonder you feel sluggish and tired all day! Get up and move to get the blood and oxygen and nutrients flowing throughout your body and delivered to your brain and muscles. Even 10 minutes can make a tremendous difference in your mood and energy for the rest of the day. If you fatigued – get up and enjoy the outdoors. It not only helps clear your head, you’ll feel more energy when you get back to work – and you’ll be more productive!

Take a Power Nap.

If you can’t just help it and must take a nap – take a power nap. At most, take a 20 minute power nap – too much longer and you’ll defeat the purpose and feel more tired later in the day instead of more energized. Studies have shown that power naps can help with information overload and get you to “reset”.

So if you need an energy boost today – try one or all of these. We guarantee you’ll feel better!
