Save those ripe bananas and blend one together with some dark cherries and you are in for a tasty treat. Banana cherry sorbet has a wonderful creamy feel and will be just the right amount of sweetness you need to keep you away from high calorie ice cream! We like to add some flax seed for healthy fats like DHA but it’s optional!
Ingredients
  • 2-3 ice cubes
  • 1 cup of frozen dark sweet cherries (unsweetened/ no sugar added)
  • 1 medium ripe banana, cut into coins and frozen
  • 1 teaspoon flax seed (optional)
  • ⅔ cup of almond milk
Instructions
  1. Add all ingredients to a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth. The consistency should be similar to a smoothie. Place mixture in a container and put in the freezer.
  3. Once it has frozen, scoop the sorbet and try garnishing with a few mint leaves. Typically it takes 4-5 hours for the sorbet to freeze thoroughly.
Notes
When freezing bananas, remove the skin, slice banana into coins, and put the bananas slices into a freezer bag in a single layer and place in freezer. We keep these frozen on a regular basis, but freeze for at least several hours if you don’t have them handy.
If you can’t find frozen cherries, buy a large batch and wait until ripened. Remove the pit before freezing in a single layer in a zip-loc bag for several hours.
